For his research idea “SPACE – Superior Performance through Accelerated Composition Exploration”, Dr.-Ing. Christopher Zenk, is awarded this year’s „EAM Starting Grant“ by the FAU Competence Center „Engineering of Advanced Materials”.

From March 19-23, 2023, The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS) Annual Meeting was held in San Diego, California. The Chair WTM was represented with three presentations and one poster within the topic area of high temperature materials and superalloys. The presentation awards to Christopher Zenk and Tobias Gaag is particularly pleasing.

The 4th International Conference for Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing will be held in Erlangen, Germany from 22 - 24 March 2023. The conference aims to discuss specific challenges and opportunities for additive manufacturing offered by the electron beam.

Prof. Dr. Carolin Körner, Chair of Materials Science and Engineering for Metals at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant, which is not only extraordinary funding, but also recognition of Erlangen and Nuremberg as an exceptional location for science and research. The EU has granted 3 million euros in funding to support research in additive manufacturing of high-performance components using high-energy electron beams.

The Industrial Colloquium of the collaborative research center SFB/TR 103 was held from 6-7 March 2018 in Fürth, Germany. The colloquium brought together researchers of the SFB/TR 103 and industrial users to accomplish improvements in the field of Ni- and Co-base superalloys.

More than 150 participants from all over the world attended EBAM 2018, the unique conference in the specialized field of electron beam-based additive manufacturing, which was organized by WTM and EAM and was held from April 11 to 13, 2018 in Nuremberg.
